In the metric system, caliper is expressed in microns. There is a TAPPI standard
measuring procedure for caliper, and unless otherwise stated, caliper measurements
are the result of this measuring procedure. Combined board caliper is the result of
measuring the thickness of the combined product using the TAPPI procedure.
